Asbestos: short periods of work

Asbestos is a hazardous carcinogenic material. Please take care when dealing with asbestos and make sure you are informed of the dangers it presents before beginning work in these environments. Even for short periods of work, further PPE should always be worn in addition to a protection class FFP3 respirator. These respirator are only intended for single use and must be correctly disposed of immediately after being removed. Additional safety measures should also be taken, including keeping any materials damp, using an asbestos filter and working as non-destructively as possible. A full mask respirator with P3 filters is to be used in areas with more than 150,000 fibres per cubic metre.

Please note that the responsible trade inspectorate must be promptly informed of all activity in which asbestos may be present.
